As such, we will devote time to both major sociological paradigms and a variety of specific theories that are used in medical sociology. We will investigate how health and illness is influenced by a variety of social factors such as sociodemographic characteristics, social relationships, stressors, and geographic context. Throughout the course, we will examine the importance of different levels of sociological analysis including micro, meso, and macro levels.
