Web is more democratic, apps are brands themselves and can promote what they want: smartphone users spend 80% of their time on apps, less and less about the open web, idea that tablets are killing print. Most major print organizations have been moving back and forth with this idea. Tablets: some say the new york times will be out of print by 2020, usa today shifting strategy to tablets, times-picayune went to three days a week in print, but is in flux. Content moves to the cloud: the first thing cloud did was improve mobile, shift to rent vs. own media content, phones are a convergent device, the cloud fills in processor power and speed, enables meaningful mobility.
