Most americans have several ideas that they think of when they hear the name thomas. Jefferson, such as founding father, author of the declaration of independence, and third. This inevitably leads to the thought that jefferson was this wonderful, revered, and almost godly figure. While no one would deny jefferson was a great man, he like all people had his shortcomings. He was a radical, a racist, and a man who gave up his values for profit. Thomas jefferson was in france at the time of the french revolution and is thought to have had an active role in the events that unfolded. There are scholars who argue that jefferson influenced the declaration of the rights of man and of the citizen, the framework for the platform of the new french government. He also believed that the french revolution was an extension of the american revolution.
