Oblique= movement, action: size- relationship of area occupied by one shape to that of another, texture- surface quality of a shape (rough, smooth, hard, glossy, ect. ) Can be physical or visual, differentiates one thing from another. Contrast: color- various colors called hues, value- lightness or darkness of a color (also called tone). A large light toned shape will be balanced by a small dark toned shape: gradation: gradation of size and direction produce linear perspective. Gradation of color from warm to cool and tone from dark to light produce aerial perspective. Contrast in direction- horizontal/ vertical) major contrast in painting should be located in center of interest.
