Racial unrest: around 350,000 blacks volunteered to participate in war and were segregated, because they learned strength during war, they may resist suppression a lot stronger. Increase in lynchings: race riots in north started during war when war industries opened and jobs became available when soldiers come back and see their jobs taken by many. Southern migrants, they want them back: 1919 chicago black boy hit by rock and drowned because he drifted on raft to white side of beach and a riot ensues. C. ) labor unrest: workers pledged not to strike during war, after seeing themselves partially responsible for winning, they wanted to be rewarded and went on strike, government squashes strikes and goes back to work.
