He finished out a the last few months of the war in europe and the last bit of war against japan. Japanese invaded philippines and called themselves liberators but the. Philippines didn"t see it that way and struck back against the japanese. They then tried to take the island of midway which is where an american military base is located. Japanese wanted midway because it would be a perfect island to keep their. In june 1942 they attacked and it occurred june 4- june 7th and japan did horrible and they lost 250 aircrafts and lost many of their skilled pilots who carried out the attack on pearl harbor. After this japanese would be on the defense for the rest of the war. Us then went on an island hopping tour where they move from island to island and along the way liberated the philippines. They then invaded iwa jima which was a very hard battle.
