Usually bleed freely and depending on the structures involved can bleed heavily. Not always painful because da(cid:373)aged (cid:374)er(cid:448)es (cid:272)a(cid:374)"t se(cid:374)d sig(cid:374)als to the (cid:271)rai(cid:374): avulsions: serious injury where part of the skin and sometimes other soft tissue is partially or completely torn away. A partly avulsed piece of skin may remain attached but hangs like a flap. Bleeding is significant because these happen in deeper tissue layers: amputations: when a body part is severed.
