Burn injuries can cause extreme uid loss. Burns increase capillary permeability which decreases intravascular uids. Charring around the face - superheated air was inhaled. Within 10 mins of burn cool with water. Separate digits - so they do not weld together. 2/19 - chapter 28 pt 2 - soft tissue trauma. Protects the body from the environment and organism. Assist in elimination of water and salts. Sweating - cools the body through evaporation. Hairs used to keep body warm - goosebumps creates ventilation. Close injuries there is no break in the skin. Injury to blood vessels in the dermis. In the brain - is life threatening because it causes pressure - especially if it"s on an artery because it continues to push the brain and create pressure which is a version of a stroke. Ruptured artery which causes a bleed in the brain. Involves larger blood vessels and areas of tissue than a contusion.
