AHS 100- Chapter 13- The Female Reproductive System- Gynecology,
Obstetrics, and Neonatology
The female reproductive is much more active and complex than the
male. While the main function of the male reproductive system is the
production and the delivery of the sperm cells, the female
reproductive system is responsible for much more. Females not only
provide half the code for a human life, but they also provide the
environment and nutrition to sustain and grow that life until birth
13.1 Word Parts of the Female Reproductive System
Gynecology, External
The outer structures of the female reproductive system are
collectively known as the vulva. It includes the clitoris, the labia
majora and labia minora, the urethral meatus, and the vaginal
opening.
The clitroris is the most sensitive part of a women’s anatomy.
The labia are the folds of tissue around the opening of the
vagina. The outer folds, which are larger, are the labia majora,
and the inner folds which are thinner, are the labia minora. The
urethral opening is located within the labia minora superior to
the vaginal opening.
The breasts are a very important outside structure while not
directly connected to the rest of the reproductive parts. They
are very sensitive and provide stimulation that plays a part in
sexual intercourse, and their main purpose is to provide a food
supply for a newborn baby.

every 28-30 days during a woman’s adult years, an ovary will
