Watson and crick hypothesized semi conservative replication and meselson and stahl. E coli with heavily coded n15 gene were let to replicate in a medium of. Cscl and after 5 or so generations, the test tube was centrifuged and a band of thick dna appeared at the bottom of the test tube. Then bacteria that were heavily coded with n14 were introduced into the testube and after one replication, it was centrifuged and an intermediate band was formed in the testube (around the middle of the test tube) They let the bacteria replicate once more and then it was centrifuged again and an intermediate band and another n14 band was formed. This was because all the n15 was already attached to the n14 strands and all that was left was n14 therefore this proved semi conservative replication. Human dna only takes a few hours to copy. Bacteria dna replicates in less than an hour.
