Symptoms: weight gai, increased sensitivity to cold because of the decreased calorigenic actions normally produced by the thyroid hormone. Heat intolerance, weight loss, increased appetite, anxiety. Very serious because of its effects on the cardiovascular system. Can be treated with medication or surgery to remove the tumor, radioactive iodine can be given as well.
