Bipolar mood disorders: bipolar 1, manic and depressive swings, manic episode- takes mood stabilizers (lithium, bipolar 2, harder to diagnose. Mood swings are less extreme on high end. Usually gets diagnosed as depression first but changes diagnoses when start seeing hypomanic episodes. Causal factors and stay in contact with friends and fam: lots not really one thing but one thing researchers know is the earlier you use it the more problem it is. Gambling disorder-new dsm: addiction without substance, only addictive behavior without substance that is in new dsm, unsuccessful attempts, social, personal, political problems arising from use, may commit crimes. And lie to get money: need bigger bets overtime to feel rush, restless irritability when trying to cut back, gamble when distressed, chase losses, withdrawal-physiological response when leaving table. Some can be cure others can go into remission with age. Onset is before brain is fully developed.
