Document Summary

Throughout this chapter, sandel tries to explain what we owe one another. There are many historical wrongs from the past; for example the holocaust or black"s being enslaved. It is terrible that those things had happened; however, it does not justify how we have to apologize for our previous generations mistakes. Even political leaders from certain parts of the world, felt that they were obligated to apologize for their states doing"s even if they were not a part of it. Main justiications for public apologies are to honour the memory of those who have sufered injustice at the hands of the political community. (p 210) i do not think the current political leaders/community should apologize. I think they should let people know, that as long as they are in charge, it would not happen again. They could hold some memorial service in honour of them.
