Womens lives are improving but biases still exist which sometimes can be threatening. Media and academic community often neglect women and issues important to them. An intro to psych textbook did not contain info on rape or pregnancy. Women contain many experiences men don"t such as menstruation, pregnancy, child birth and menopause. Some are more likely to happen to women than men such as rape, domestic violence, and sexual harassment. Some areas emphasize male point of view more such as achievements, work, sexuality, and retirement. Two crucial terms related to psychology of women are sex and gender. Sex refers to biological characteristics relating to reproduction such as chromosomes or sex organs. It refers to the psychological characteristics and social categories that human cultures create.
