PSYC 2030 Chapter Notes - Chapter 12: Formal System, Thematic Map, Observational Error
Document Summary
Qualitative studies has the potential to enrich all psychological research. One key recommendation of qualitative researchers is to adopt research practices that: focus on the meaning that particular behaviours have for participants themselves (herm. approach. ) Participant involvement - research practice that acknowledges the role that participants play in research and that seeks to involve them in as much of the research process as possible. User involvement - research practice that acknowledges the need to do research that is of benefit to particular communities and that seeks to involve potential users in as much of the research process as possible. Participants will be asked individually to discuss and explain in their own words what a particular response means and why they are making it. Differences of these constitute the classical critique of, and response to, qualitative research. Almost all of the techniques that are typically used to collect quantitative data can also be used to collect classical qualitative data.
