Document Summary

Memory is learning that has persisted over time, information that has been stored and can be retrieved. The persistence of learning over time through the storage and retrieval of information. Evidence that learning persists takes three forms. recall- retrieving information that is not currently in your conscious awareness but that was learned at an earlier time. Fill in the blank question recognition- identifying items previously learned eg. Multiple choice questions relearning- learning something more quickly when you learn it a second or later time. Studying for a final exam or engage a language from childhood, you will relearn the info faster. Recall, recognition, and learning speeds are the 3 ways the we can measure retention of memories. You can recall better the names of people from high school if the names are there. 5 second clip from a movie you saw. Tests of recognition and of time spend relearning demonstrate that we remember more than we can recall.
