Document Summary

Memory is learning that stays over time- information that has been acquired and stored and can be retrieved. Evidence that learning persists includes three measures of retention: Recall retrieving information that is not currently in your conscious awareness but that was learned at an earlier time- fill in the blank questions test your recall. Recognition identifying items previously learned a multiple choice question tests your recognition. Re learning learning something more quickly when you learn it the second time. You may not always be able to recall memory but it is much more easier to recognize things you may not remember the name of an old classmate but you will recognize them. The speed of recognition is very fast, we almost instantly know if we have encountered a person or seen something in the past. Recognition and re learning tests prove that we remember more than we can recall.
