Drug: can be defined as a natural or synthetic substance that is used to produce physiological or psychological effects in humans or other higher order animals. Drugs mean something different to each person. To some drugs are a necessity for sustaining and prolonging life; and to others they are a means of ending it or even providing an escape from the pressures of life. Drugs have grown from a problem generally associated with the lower end of the socioeconomic ladder to one that cuts across all social and ethnic classes of society. Drug dependence: conscious of their effects on human behaviour.
