Very important part in this course because of the amplified amount of drugs used in society today. We all take drugs for sickness, drug use is for sickness whereas drug abuse is for illicit drugs or the overdosing of licit drugs. Half a million people or more are heroine addicts or addicted to cocaine. Important to learn about the legal aspects of drug. In the usa alone greater than 75% of the evidence presented in crime labs that is evaluated is drug related and that is why there has been a large expansion of drugs. A drug can be defined as a natural or synthetic substance that is used to produce physiological or psychological effects in humans or other higher order animals. Ie: when you have a temperature you take a drug when you have an inflammation you take a drug to bring down the swelling. We need to understand the potential danger of drugs and their effects on humans.
