Disadv: lag-time btwn completion of research and appearance of report in literature: min lag-time: 6 months; usually 1-2 years. Most researchers use combinations: presentations and posters at professional meetings for recent work followed by written report appearing in book or journal sometime after. General rule of thumb for journals is to publish only those reports that advance body of knowledge in a meaningful way. Few sentences from each main section of report; 100 - 200 words. Appears first in report; usually written last bc it must summarize.
