While change is ultimately required in order to adapt to changing environment, the success of any organization depends on the capability to maintain stable and reproducible organizational process and outcomes. Organizations have to adapt to changing economic conditions. Downsizing is more likely going to happen in lean times then in rich: competitive changes. Competitive process do evolve and understanding what to expect and what drives evolution along the lifecycle of an industry is critical for surviving turbulent times.
