Recognize human diversity and consider that same conditions don"t motivate everyone. Explain how some people are self-motivated while others require external motivation. Recognize social aspect of human beings people"s motivation affected by how others are treated. Motivated person = person works hard, keeps at their work, and directs behaviour to appropriate outcomes. Motivation: extent to which persistent effort is directed toward a goal. Effort: amount of effort person exhibits on job; involves diff. kinds of activities on diff. jobs. Persistence: persistence that individuals exhibit in applying effort to work tasks. Direction: quality of someone"s work; probability that persistent effort is translated into accepted organizational outcomes motivation means working smart and hard.
