At risk for: dehydration, constipation and malnutrition. Arthritis leading to immobility leading to decreased skin integrity. In canada, over half of individuals are classified as overweight. During surgery, fatty tissues are very susceptible to infection. Patients with physical disabilities may need special positioning to avoid pain as sometimes they may not be able to feel it is positioned improperly. Includes outpatient, same-day or short-stay surgery (no overnight stay) Nurse must ensure family/patient knows what will happen with where the are going.
