Every film is a compromise made with constraints . Form: the overall patterning of a film, the ways its parts work together to create specific effects. Style: the films" use of cinematic techniques (mise en scene, cinematography, editing, sound) *finished feature film consists of an average of 10 - 12 tb of data (after editing), while the amount shot from 100 - 300 tb. Since human beings cannot be reduced to their conscious thoughts, films should not be reduced to the director"s conscious intentions. If you let go of the notion that the filmmaker is trying to convey a message, then the activity of viewers is to interpret the film according to their lives, their experiences, their tastes-not the filmmaker"s. That activity is just as valid as the filmmaker"s. The meaning of a movie does not lie solely within the film itself but in the interaction of the film and the audience.
