Ivan pavlov: noble prize for digestion, accidental discovery of classical conditioning, dogs salivating in anticipation of food when the dog hears the bell (tone) Classical conditioning learning that occurs when a neutral stimulus induces a response that was originally caused by another stimulus. Aka pavlovian conditioning or associative learning: foundation of behaviourism focusing on observable behaviour. Can occur in simple organisms (sea slugs, earthworm, Unconditioned stimulus (us) a stimulus that induces a reflexive response without learning. Unconditioned response (ur) a reflexive, unlearned reaction to an unconditioned stimulus. Overtime, a neutral stimulus can trigger the same response as an unconditioned stimulus would. Conditioned stimulus (cs) a previously neutral stimulus that triggers a conditioned response due to its history with an unconditioned stimulus. Conditioned response (cr) the learned response in reaction to the conditioned stimulus.
