Document Summary
Learning is a process by which behavior or knowledge changes as a result of experience. Cognitive learning is what students do taking tests, reading, listening. Pavlov won the nobel prize in 1904 in medicine for his work on digestion, not for his famous conditioning research. He collected saliva and other secretion from dogs when they were presented with meat powder. He observed that as he prepared the dogs for the experiment they would start salivating. This led pavlov to believe that salivation was than just a simple reflex in response to food. He hypothesized that if dogs salivate in anticipation for food, then perhaps salivation response can also be learned. He did experiments where he would pair food with a stimulus, a(cid:374)d afte(cid:396) e(cid:374)ough pai(cid:396)i(cid:374)g the sti(cid:373)ulus alo(cid:374)e (cid:449)ould (cid:373)ake the dogs sali(cid:448)ate.
