Anxiety disorder: a category of disorders involving fear or nervousness that is excessive, irrational, and maladaptive. Most frequently diagnosed 1 in every 8 canadians often diagnosed with other disorders. Fight-or-flight is activated when stressed helpful in dangerous situations but when it is constantly activated during our daily lives - results in stress-related illness. Self-fulfilling cycle: notice increase in heart rate fear of heart problem increase heart rate repeats it self in a cycle. The cycle needs to be interrupted in order to treat the disorder to confront with the fear to learn how to mange their response towards the fear. Psychological therapy for anxiety disorder exposure: repeatedly and in stages exposed to the object of his fear so that he can work past his emotional reactions. Often plagued by unwanted, inappropriate, and persistent thoughts (obsessions), and tend to engage in repetitive almost ritualistic behaviours (compulsions)
