Stage 5: recognizing individual rights w/in society w/ agreed-on rules (a social contract) Stage 6: assuming principles that apply to all humankind. Information processing --> when people make decisions, they engage in a thought process. Encode info --> search for proper response --> decide most appropriate action --> act upon it.
