Sexual selection comes in two forms: direct competition between males for access to females. When males battle out directly, win access to females by driving off competitors. Selection produces armaments: weapons, larger body size to help win contest: female choosiness among possible mates. Features like bright colours, ornaments, bowers, mating displays. Females find some traits and behaviours more attractive.
