A map of social space surrounding us helps us orient ourselves and identify where we want to go. Sociologists seek to understand the social space in which actions unfold. Sociological concepts and principles highlight important characteristics and relationships in social space. Person is a unique individual, whose distinctiveness is captured in his or her personality . Social environment is composed of a real or imagined others to whom the person is connected. Sociological imagination thrives by exploring the linkages between persona experience and the surrounding society. Every individual is a person because each has a unique character. Our social environment is comprised of others as we spend most of our lifetime connected to others in one way or another. Typically organized as such that people act in an orderly, patterned way.
