PSYB45H3 Chapter Notes - Chapter 11: Stimulus Control, Reinforcement, Task Analysis
Document Summary
Behaviour chaining what it is and what it is not. Behaviour chain (simulus-response chain) refers to a consistent sequence of simuli and responses that occur closely in ime and in which last response is followed by a reinforcer. Each response produces a simulus that serves as an sd for the next response. Sd = discriminaive simulus x rx s+ Simulus-response connecions are the links that hold the chain together. Behaviour chain will be broken at the point of its weakest link. If any response is so weak that it fails to be evoked by sd preceding it, rest of the chain will not occur. Only way to repair chain is to strengthen weak simulus-response connecion by means of an efecive training procedure. S+ (reinforcer at end of chain) maintains the simuli in the chain as efecive sds for the responses that follow them. Playing a paricular song on a musical instrument.
