PSYB45H3 Chapter Notes - Chapter 8: Reinforcement
Document Summary
Response rate (response frequency) refers to number of instances a behaviour occurs in a given period of ime. Response rate is more commonly used when talking about schedules of reinforcement. Schedule of reinforcement refers to a rule specifying which occurrences of given behaviour, if any, will be reinforced. Coninuous reinforcement (crf) is the simplest schedule whereby reinforcement occurs at each instance of the behaviour. Many behaviours in everyday life are reinforced on a crf schedule. Ex: each ime you turn on the tap, your behaviour is reinforced by water. Operant exincion is the opposite of crf whereby no instance of a given behaviour is reinforced. Intermitent reinforcement is an arrangement whereby a behaviour is reinforced only occasionally. Lies between the 2 extremes of crf and operant exincion. Ex: you may not always receive a good grade ater studying. Acquisiion phase refers to period when behaviour is being condiioned or learned.
