PSYB10H3 Chapter Notes - Chapter 4: Space Shuttle Challenger Disaster, Mass Suicide, Totalitarianism
Document Summary
How do people around us affect us. How are we different with people and when we are by ourselves. Social norm- to wear clothes in public for ex (got to conform to this, otherwise we can be rejected) Social roles- who we are in society (supposed to fulfill these roles) Group cohesiveness- the degree to which a group is or is perceived to be close knit and similar (if you are in a group that is cohesive, it promotes liking and in-group favouritism). Those who are not in the group, stereotype those who are in a cohesive group because they"ll say that all members of the group are the same. Experiments- you always have the right to withdraw an experiment anytime no matter who says what, you have the right to destroy anything you dont want published. We stop experiments if we see uncomfort, extreme stress, even if the participant has not requested to leave.
