Constant is something that could potentially vary but has only one level in the study in question. It depends on how the unit is being measured. In contrast, manipulated variable > is a variable a researcher controls, usually by assigning participants to the dif levels of that variable. Some variables can be both manipulated and measured. Each variable can be described in 2 ways. When discussing theories and research we must use concept level language. These are, conceptual variables > abstract concepts such as shyness or intelligence . They must be defined at a theoretical level, these are called theoretical definitions.
