In contrast, individuals low in openness (low os) are the defenders of the system, preferring the conventional, the tried and true, avoiding the unknown and finding security in the known. They prefer things that are tangible rather than symbolic, priding themselves on being practical, and prefer things to be more straightforward and generally dislike subtlety and complexity. They approach new information defensively and prefer to learn about things they already believe in, paying less attention to information that challenges their perspective.
