Motivation: concerns the physiological and psychological processes underlying the initiation of behaviours that direct organisms toward specific goals. Drive: a biological trigger that tells us we may be deprives of something and causes us to seek out what is needed such as food and water. Motivation is not only influences by current needs but also by the anticipation of future needs a process known as allostasis. The activity of the hypothalamus is influence by hormones. Brain influences body and body influences brain. Hypothalamus detects level changes of glucose: sugar that serves as primary energy source for the brain and the rest of the body.
