Motivation is not only influences by current needs but also by the anticipation of future needs a process known as allostasis. The activity of the hypothalamus is influence by hormones. Brain influences body and body influences brain. Hypothalamus detects level changes of glucose: sugar that serves as primary energy source for the brain and the rest of the body.
