Acknowledged the root causes of illness which is due to social and economic factors than biological factors the sanitary phase was 1840 to provide clean water and sewage, to improve housing and working conditions. In 1910- personal hygiene phase was very important because it allowed an emphasis on education of populations about own ill health and health. The therapeutic phase- 1930 and onwards- the medicalization of public health which associated with the prevention of ill health through bio-medical interventions such as vaccination and treatment of ill health through use of antibiotics.
