It"s become less concerned about meeting other expectations, therefore beginning to behave in ways that are true to themselves: person centred therapy is grounded on the assumption that clients create their own self-growth & are active self-healers. In relationships, this involves the absence of conflicts, slowness to anger. & a belief that all parties experience the same feelings & thoughts we do: interruptions in contact/boundary disturbances: characteristic styles people employ in their attempt to control their environment through one of these channels of resistance. What is the therapeutic process in gestalt therapy: goal is to assist the client to attain greater awareness, & with it, greater choice, awareness includes, knowing the environment, knowing the self, accepting oneself, being able to make contact. Involves incorporating aspects of others, usually parents, into one"s personality: (2) the empty-chair technique: empty chair is a vehicle for the technique of role reversal.
