Document Summary

Chapter 4 nature, nurture, and human diversity. Diversity among us + shared human nature: shared brain architecture senses, language, hunger mechs, start fearing strangers at ~8 months. Behaviour geneics = the study of the relaive power and limits of geneic and environmental inluences on behaviour. Environment = every non-geneic inluence, from prenatal nutriion to the people and things around us. Each somaic cell contains 23 chromosomes from mom + 23 from dad = 46 total. Chromosome = threadlike strucs made of dna molecs that contain the genes. Dna (deoxyribonucleic acid) = complex molec containing the geneic info that makes up the chromosomes. Genome = complete instrucions for making an organism, consising of all the geneic material in that organism"s chromosomes. Share about 96% of our dna sequence w/ chimpanzees. Slight variaions from the common patern give clues to our uniqueness. 2 types of experiments: 1st controls the enviro while varying heredity, 2nd controls heredity while changing the enviro.
