In ancient world -ethic is the lining of the relative meaning -custom/norm/habit. In middle ages, introduction of new values -faith, hope, love -weakening the character -becoming kind/humble people - with authority of church/spirituality. Modern world: focus on independence, individual authority, ethic of fidelity to rules. Elite people who looked at the moral codes -as individuality and making of the decision by myself. Moral theory of always following the will of god. Being familiar and follower of god -thinking how god wants us to do. Old testament (10 commandments) & new testaments (golden rule) treat others as you would treat yourself. Natural law: from st. thomas- god made the world with his perfection. Given reason -capacity to figure out the god"s will and hence moral law (rational basis for scriptural moral revelation)
