Document Summary
Crombie could have potentially survived the horrible events , thus making the conclusion uncertain and proving the argument to be invalid. It is important to note that validity is solely based on the support that a set of premises lends to a conclusion. This means that premises are not needed to be true. However as stated, if they were true, and did happen, it would lead and support the conclusion given at the end of the argument. The only combination you cannot have is for a valid argument is a valid premise and a false conclusion. Here are the possible combinations for a valid argument: (1) false premises and a true conclusion; (2) false premises and a false conclusion; or (3) true premises and a true conclusion. If an argument as a false starting point (false premises) then you cannot expect to arrive a true conclusion.
