Sex: biological characteristics that distinguish males and females: primary sex characteristics: genitals, secondary sex characteristics: physical distinctions between males and females that are not directly connected with reproduction, things to do with puberty. Gender: social rather than biological characteristic, refers to masculinity or femininity. You inherit your sex, but learn your gender. Sociological significance of gender: is that it is a deice by which society controls its members. Gender is a structural feature of society. Biology is an extremely significant part of our lives. Each of us begins and a fertilized egg, at the very moment the egg is fertilized, our sex is determined.
