Allotasis: motivation by anticipation of future needs. Anorexia nervosa: eating disorder that involves staving, fear of weight gain, body dissatisfaction, denial of the consequences of low weight. Bulimia nervosa: food deprivation > binge eating > purging. Drive: biological trigger that alerts us of a deprived need. Glucose: primary energy source for the body. Homeostasis: physiological processes that allow for consistent internal states in response to the environment. Satiation: point in the meal when we"re no longer motivated to eat. Gender roles: accepted behaviours of males and females. Libido: motivation for sexual activity/pleasure (physical, emotional, goal, insecurity) Females: common reproductive physiology but differ in refractory period, sexual behaviour, gender role, sexual script. Refractory period: erection and orgasm aren"t physically possible. Sex guilt: negative feelings for violating sexual norms. Sexual orientation: consistent preference for sexual relations. Sexual response cycle: phases of psychological change during sexual activity = excitement, plateau, organism, resolution.
