PSYC 3250 Chapter Notes - Chapter 13: Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale, Stanford–Binet Intelligence Scales, Content Validity
Document Summary
The ninth mental measurement"s yearbook provides descriptions and reviews of 77 separate intelligence tests. A individual mental test requires social interaction between the examiner and the subject. Administering the test can be thought as stimuli prompting responses. The social interaction may change their behavior as well. Needs specialized training to administer and one of the first steps is to maintain and rapport with the person being tested keeping their interest and motivation to perform well along with easing their anxiety. For children, one may play games but adults may be resentful as a test may be a blow to their self-esteem. The test taker needs to know that the examiner is trustworthy and not judgmental and that the task is not threatening. The examiner also needs to develop sound professional judgment in scoring responses in test questions. Open-ended questions are doubly critical as it can affect the scores and the test process.
