FRHD 3150 Chapter 17: Chapter 17
Document Summary
Treatment packages that focus on the manipulation of antecedent stimuli fall into categories of rules, goals, modelling, physical guidance, situational inducement and motivation. Rule: describes a situation in which a behaviour will leas to all consequences; statement that a speci c behaviour will pay off in a particular situation. Contingency-shaped behaviour: behaviour that develops because of it"s immediate consequence (ex. whispering to a teammate making them laugh causes the whispering to strengthen in that setting) Rule-governed behaviour: behaviour controlled by the statement of a rule (ex. coach telling player that if he doesn"t whisper through the entire practice they can have an extra 5 minutes of scrimmaging) When behaviour will lead to immediate and severe punishment. Although reinforcer identi ed in a rule might be delayed for an individual, other people might provide other immediate consequences if the individual follows or does not follow the rule. An individual might follow a rule and then immediately make reinforcing statements.
