OHS 718 Chapter Notes - Chapter 10: Occupational Hygiene, Engineering Controls, Safety Data Sheet
Document Summary
Introduction: whmis needs to be updated regularly, housekeeping can be considered ohs as it prevents slips and falls. Whmis: sections 37-42 of the ohsa has whmis, section 42 says that the whmis training program is to be developed and implemented by the employer in consultation with the jhsc. Not the whole program, just the whmis training program: whmis program would concern the conduct of inventory. Ensures we have all the sdss for materials in the workplace. Allows matching up of hazards with workers needing training on those hazards. Can we eliminate it from our program: should update when new chemicals come in and during the quarterly inspections. Some materials brought in without proper documentation, so during inspection allows for catching that stuff. Inspection allows us to make sure msdss are still present where they should be available: section 39 for places that make their own chemicals.
