KINESIOL 3H03 Chapter Notes - Chapter 2: Active Child, Stevedore, Inverse Relation
Document Summary
50-70% of industrialized countries do not achieve recommended amount of regular physical acivity. Over the years, there is an improvement in physical acivity levels. Physical inacivity is inclining in youth, especially as they age. Physical acivity levels present during youth are not related to exercise levels in adulthood (acive child does not mean acive adult) Males tend to do more vigorous acivity, while females do a lower level. Whites are a litle more physically acive than blacks and asians (moderate acivity) where high acivity is blacks > whites > asians. Asians, naives, african americans, hispanics have higher sedentary rates. Most indings show a linear relaionship, however not always true. Physical acivity decline across life span, sedentary increases. Low income and ethnic minority: less physical acivity. Midlife increase in physical acivity is associated with reduced risk of mortality. 70% obese/overweight in the us (15-20%) are children/adolescents. Excess weight in childhood predicts similar weight in adulthood.
