COMMERCE 3S03 Chapter Notes - Chapter 15: Negativity Bias, Transactional Leadership, Organizational Culture
Document Summary
Negativity bias: how our mind reacts more quickly to negativity than it does to good things. If there is any bad feelings towards a task or person, your mind will notice and focus on those bad things instead of the existing good feelings. People pay more attention to negative happenings than to positive ones. Leaders in organizations are bombarded with problems, threats, and obstacles. They are supposed to find, analyze, and fix any problem that arise. So they are easily susceptible to negativity bias. Positive leader has to counteract the negative to be encouraging and optimistic in the face of constant problems. Positive leadership: promotes outcomes such as thriving in work, interpersonal flourishing, and positive emotions. Positive organizational behavior is where you concentrate on people"s strengths rather than their weaknesses. Three aspects of positive leadership: affirmative bias, facilitating intrinsic goodness, and exceeding performance expectations.
