Time is a managers most valuable resource and one characteristic that identifies successful managers is that they know how to use time effectively to accomplish the important things first and the less important things later. Self management the ability to engage in self-regulating thoughts and behaviour to handle difficult or challenging situations. People high in self-management are able to take control of their behaviours and direct themselves to achieve goals. Old brain: wired into our system after a lifetime of conditioning: lower level, automatic thinking, habitual, represents our unconscious impulses, fears, emotional drives lifelong habits, handles memory, language, perception, communication and other vital information processing. New brain: area in which we make conscious choice of how to behave rather than react to a situation out of fear, desire, or other strong emotions.
