Transaction processing system: operational managers need systems that keep track of the elementary activities and transactions of the organization, such as sales, receipts, cash, deposits, payroll, credit decisions, and the flow of materials in a factory. Transaction processing system (tps): - computerized systems that perform and record the daily routine transactions necessary to conduct the business; they serve the organization"s operational level. Business intelligence systems for decision support: middle management needs systems to help monitoring, controlling, decision making, and administrative activities. Management information systems (mis): - the study of information systems focusing on their use in business and management. Decision-support systems (dss): - information systems at the organization"s management level that combine data and sophisticated analytical models or data analysis tools support semi structured and unstructured decision making.
